Unusual raccoon behaviour investigated

OPP responded to Lisgar Avenue Monday morning to investigate a raccoon showing signs of abnormal daytime behaviour. A wildlife control agency and the animal control unit were both contacted. The raccoon, which showed no signs of distemper Monday around 10:35-10:40 a.m., has recently been reported in several residential areas in Tillsonburg, first around King Street, then Tillson Avenue and Concession Street.

“We haven't had any calls saying people have been attacked by it, but certainly our course of action would change for that,” said Constable Stacey Culbert, OPP Community Service. “If it becomes an issue where there's a threat to anybody, we have to get it contained. This morning... we're waiting for animal control to call us.”
