Two venerable trees adjacent to Gibson House along the shoreline of Lake Lisgar have been saved for the time being, says Town of Tillsonburg CAO David Calder. A contractor initially hired to take the two trees down was instead instructed to trim back dead branches and anything presenting a safety concern. What remains, is anticipated to stay at least for a few more years yet, says Calder, who agreed cutting down trees can be a sensitive issue for a community. “Trees are dear to many people’s hearts,” he said, “especially old ones that have been around for a lot of years.” Jeff Tribe/Tillsonburg News
