Literacy tutor training

On behalf of Wendy Woodhouse, Adult Basic Literacy Program Coordinator, Maureen Vandenberghe (pictured here) of the Tillsonburg Multi-Service Centre reminds the community The Adult Basic Literacy & Essential Skills Program is seeking tutors. A two-day tutor-training session is scheduled for Saturday October 12 and Saturday, October 19. Volunteer tutors are asked for a one-year commitment and then trained and supported through an ongoing (and flexible) two-hour per week one-on-one tutor/adult student commitment. The program (through 2012/2013) has provided 6,127 upgrading/training hours to 111 students, whose goals include independence (45%), employment (42%) and a secondary school credit (13%).
