We had an amazing week here at Sacred Heart…again!

On Wednesday, September 25th, all the students from our school and the school across the road, (Langton Public School), as well as community members went out to the Langton Community Centre and Arena for the 125th North Walsingham Fair.

Both schools put on a massive show of artwork, crafts, baked goods, plants, photos and pets for the judges to score. Sacred Heart School had two teachers participate in the Tobacco Tying Contest and they placed fourth. Mrs. Pierssens and Mrs. Demaiter, you made us proud.

There were many other contests throughout the fair as well. Students enjoyed taking part in the Nail Driving Contest as well as the Talent Show. The tug-of-war competition between Sacred Heart Catholic School and Langton Public School was close with Sacred Heart winning both the junior and senior competitions.

Two RCMP officers presented trophies to the winners of last June’s Bike Rodeo. Cheerleaders from Valley Heights Secondary School performed an amazing show for us and also assisted with the parade.

Students were able to watch and demonstration by an expert model plane flyer. As well, the representative from the Ontario Reptile Association brought a variety of snakes for the students to see up close!

On the sports scene, our soccer team has been training hard and has had two exhibition games already. Scores for both games were very close. The soccer team will be participating in the Brant Haldimand Norfolk CDSB Soccer Tournament on October 1st, at John Wright Park in Brantford. Good luck to the team!

Students have also started to practice their running in preparation for the Cross Country Run in Simcoe later in the month.

As we begin October, we are sure that it will be equally busy as September has been. Hope you tune in for next week’s Eagle Events column.
