O'Neil getting back in the groove

Article content

Summer is over and school has begun! We are currently getting to know our awesome new students from St. Joseph's and others who have transferred here. We also welcome our new teachers and returning teachers, and we can't forget about our principal, secretary and support staff!

We have some exciting events coming up, such as the senior volleyball team sign-ups and tryouts, and the annual Terry Fox Run, where O'Neil students come to school and walk, run, scooter or rollerblade to help raise money for cancer research. We also have SmartBoards in almost every classroom, including the French room, and we've received a grant of a half-class-set of iPads, so we'll soon be fundraising to complete the set to a full class set for more technological, interactive learning!

Every school year, we have a theme. Last year's was ‘Solidarity’ and this year it is ‘Belonging,’ about welcoming others and making them feel like they belong in our school community.

Each and every student feels welcomed as they walk through the front door. The curriculum includes learning amazing things about life and God. At Monsignor O'Neil School, faith is extremely important. We talk about God and learn important qualities to live by, such as independence, solidarity, not to be a bully, and to do unto others as you would like done to you. The staff and students do everything to make Monsignor O'Neil a welcoming school, and it is.

The school year is going to be amazing. Let's GO KNIGHTS!
