Double-barrelled MSC fundraising fun

Article content

Tillsonburg and area residents are invited to come out and celebrate September this weekend, while coincidentally supporting their Multi-Service Centre through a pair of fundraisers.

The exercise kicks off with September-Fest Saturday (September 21) at the Livingston Centre from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Participants are invited to share in free live music, family fun activities, a pickleball demonstration, samplings courtesy of Sobey’s, and for the kids, free face painting, access to a bouncy castle and a colouring contest.

A fall mums sale, EWaste (computers and peripherals, televisions, audio and video devices, etc.) collection, BBQ, ice cream and book fair and trunk sale will be part of the action.

A ‘trunk sale’ is a form of mobile yard sale in which vendors pay $10 for the opportunity to park a vehicle onsite and sell items, including crafts, out of their trunk. Proceeds from the book fair and trunk sale permits go directly to the Tillsonburg & District Multi-Service Centre.

Those seeking more information, or wishing to arrange drop-off or pick-ups are invited to call Karen at 519-842-9008, ext. 306.

Those looking for additional weekend excitement are invited to sample fall at their own pace Sunday (September 22) along Tillsonburg’s scenic Carroll Trail via the MSC Trail Walk & Run. Participants of all ages are invited to choose between a leisurely 2K course (rated low difficulty) or a 5K loop of ‘medium’ difficulty, featuring two steep hills.

Cost is $25 per participant, with children 12-and-under free. A free t-shirt will be given to the first 100 participants and all proceeds shared between the MSC and the Parkinson’s Society of Southwestern Ontario.

The walk/run begins at 10:30 a.m., from home base at Coronation Park. Those seeking to register are invited to visit www.runningroom.com, www.multiservicecentre.com (click on What’s Happening) or contact Chris via email at cyancy@multiservicecentre.com or by calling 519-842-9000, ext. 232. Onsite registration will also be available from 9-10 a.m. Sunday.
