'Going out in style'

This week we bid farewell to the TD Summer Reading Club for another year with our wrap-up party, “GO Out in Style.”

Thank you so much to all of the amazing families who visited us at the library week after week to participate in our fun programs and to report on the dozens of books our participants read, we’re so glad you joined us! Last week SRC welcomed special guests from Kennedy’s Kridders. Dozens of children stopped in to hear some of Matt Kennedy’s fun songs and to see a variety of animals, including a tortoise, snakes, a rabbit, lizards, and more!

Thanks to everyone who came out to learn about the critters that visited Tillsonburg Library, we’re glad you made it! Remember, just because summer is coming to a close doesn’t mean programming at the library is ending, too! Great programs will be starting up in September including Baby Time and Preschool Storytime, Cooking with Kim, an adult food and cooking demonstration, and monthly screenings of family films! Check out our program listing on the library’s website, www.ocl.net or in the Tillsonburg Fall Rec and Leisure Guide.

Patrons who have been in to the library recently will undoubtedly have noticed the scaffolding in front of our DVD area. Local artist Ches Sulkowski is hard at work creating a beautiful mural that will feature elements of Tillsonburg’s history, including the original Carnegie library building, tobacco fields, and more!

We are thrilled to have our ‘Artist in Residence’ and are very excited to see the finished result. Next time you are downtown, stop in to the library to see the beautiful artwork in progress. A huge thank you goes to the Tillsonburg Knights of Columbus, without whom this project would not be possible!

Additionally, we are excited to feature the artwork of Earle and Fran Barr of Tillsonburg, on display in the adult area of the library. The first collection provided to the library through a partnership with Oxford Creative Connections, the Barrs’ beautiful photos and abstract art will hang on our walls until mid-September. If you haven’t had the chance to take a look, we encourage you to stop in to see the Barr’s collection before it’s too late!

New items are arriving at the library every day, so come in for a visit, we would love to have you!

Happy Reading!

Sydnie
