Tim Hortons rewards Tillsonburg student with $1,000 scholarship

Jordan Bootsma of Tillsonburg is the latest recipient of a $1,000 Tim Hortons Scholarship, awarded for his commitment to giving back to the community.

Bootsma was presented with his scholarship cheque at the Tim Hortons on Oxford Street on Wednesday August 8, 2013.

The Team Tim Hortons Scholarship Program is designed to recognize restaurant team members (as well as their children or grandchildren), who believe in giving back to their community through volunteer work and have plans to pursue post-secondary education. Entering its eighth year, the successful program has already helped more than 1,700 students across Canada and the United States with more than $1.7 million awarded so far in scholarships. This year another $220,000 will be distributed among 220 deserving students.

“We are delighted to present Jordan with the 2013 Team Tim Hortons Scholarship,” said Randy Salverda, Tim Hortons restaurant owner in Tillsonburg, in a media release.  “We are proud of his commitment to this community and the desire to pursue post-secondary education. We are happy that Tim Hortons can help Jordan fulfill his future goals and wish him much success.”

Tim Hortons is committed to enriching the lives of its valued team members through a number of ‘Team Tim Hortons’ initiatives. The application process for the 2014-15 school year will open in February 2014.
