Environmental study for Tillsonburg wastewater treatment plant in final stages

Public Works will ask Oxford County Council to accept the Environmental Study Report for the Tillsonburg Wastewater Treatment Plant on Wednesday, August 14 and for approval to notify the public that copies of the report are available at the Oxford County Administration Building, Tillsonburg Customer Service Centre and Tillsonburg Library during the 30-day review period, which ends September 27, 2013.

The report, prepared by XCG Consultants Ltd., recommends expanding and upgrading the existing treatment plant in Tillsonburg, near Coronation Park, which would allow the plant to treat projected wastewater flows up to the year 2034. Engineering design work is expected to begin in 2015 with construction to follow in 2017-18 or later.

The project cost estimate is $29.4 million.
