Collision investigation continues

Police continue to investigate a two-vehicle collision which occurred Thursday, July 18 at approximately 4:13 p.m. on Springfield Road at Vienna Line in the Township of Malahide.

A 2003 GMC Envoy being driven by a 32-year-old Port Burwell woman along with her four children was travelling south on Springfield Road approaching Vienna Line. A 2003 Pontiac Sunfire being operated by a 51-year-old Aylmer woman and accompanied by a 43-year-old Tillsonburg woman was travelling east on Vienna Line. Elgin OPP report the Pontiac failed to stop for the stop sign at Vienna Line and Springfield Road and was struck by the Envoy on the driver’s side just behind the driver’s door.

The driver of the Pontiac had to be extricated from the vehicle by Malahide Fire Services and both the driver and passenger were then transported to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital by Elgin-St.Thomas EMS. The patients were later transferred to London Health Sciences Centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the GMC Envoy and her four children were uninjured in the collision.

Police continue to investigate.
