Racing, impaired, under suspension charges laid

A traffic stop by Oxford County OPP along the 401 near Dodge Line in Southwest Oxford just prior to 2 a.m. Thursday has resulted in a trio of charges being laid against 28-year-old Rajkumar Kaliugavarathan of Brampton.
Police allege a vehicle was observed traveling at 161 kilometres/per/hour in a posted 100 k/p/h zone, and executed a stop. Kaliugavarathan was subsequently charged with:
Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle - Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Race a Motor Vehicle – Section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
Drive While under Suspension – Section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and Officer in Charge Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Woodstock Courthouse August 6, 2013.
