Through The Lens

Discovering a new angle through the lens.

The station arts centre is doing just that with its 3rd annual photography exhibit.

Through The Lens is a free exhibit in the changing gallery, courtesy of the Tillsonburg Photography Club.

Jayne Tripp, a member of the Tillsonburg Photography Club, explains the wide array of photographs displayed.

“We have some professional photographers but mostly amateurs so you will see a real range of style different techniques.

“I like to do some abstract photos,” Tripp said, pointing to her photograph of a very interesting close-up picture of rust.

Pictures of hummingbirds, animals, landscapes and even broken down trucks decorate the show room.

Tripp explained how aspiring photographers could get photos in the show.

“You can join the Tillsonburg Photography Club, we meet every Tuesday night here. We get different speakers in showing us anything from technical aspects to new interests a photographer has at that time.”

But the club is not just taking pictures here in town.

“We go on trips and take pictures of that location, we also take trips to Henry’s in Toronto.” Tripp said. “We also give club members challenges such as different themes for each week.”

Anyone can join the photography club and there is no age limit but you have to be able to use and respect the camera gear. Experience is not necessary.

Through The Lens will be displayed till Wednesday, July 17. For more information on The Tillsonburg Photography Club, visit its website or call the Station Arts Centre at 842-5191.
