Challenging, wet weather at The Bridges

Article content

We continue to be challenged by the weather. Tuesday morning was VERY wet.

Four 18-hole ladies teed off at their regular time of 8:30 at The Bridges at Tillsonburg, but spent some time sitting under the trees waiting for the rain to taper off. They played for tee-green strokes. In Flight A, Devona Allin won with 51 strokes and in Flight B, Peg Hogarth won with 55.

Stella Black had a Birdie on No. 18.

There was a steady drizzle at tee-off time for the 9-hole ladies. We had an extra cup of coffee and waited patiently for the rain to subside. Ten ladies played but because of the condition of the course, we opted not to play any games. The wet course and heavy air gave us good excuses for not making our usual breathtaking shots. We enjoyed our round and had a delightful lunch.

Dorell Clark had a birdie on hole No. 1.

Five 18-hole ladies attended an Invitational at Craigowan Golf & Country Club at Woodstock. Phyl Lawrence came in 5th in C Flight and also won closest to the pin. Lil Neale came in 5th in Flight D.

Next week is our CKOT house tournament. The 18-hole ladies will tee-off on the back nine at 8:30 and the 9-hole ladies will join them on the front nine at 10:30.

For what it's worth, we will once again keep our fingers crossed for good weather.

See you on the greens.
