Grenade 'launch'

The discovery of a live grenade in a Long Point cottage Sunday touched off a hive of activity in the shoreline community, although fortunately no pyrotechnics. Journalist/videographer Nathan Cox lives in the area, and was among those forced to temporarily evacuate as Norfolk Ontario Provincial Police established a safe perimeter. Cox captured several photos of the incident, including those of police evacuating the area, and this shot of the Department of National Defence vehicle which arrived from Camp Borden (near Barrie) at Long Point around 12:30 a.m. Monday, with three personnel qualified in safe removal of live, explosive devices. The three were particular efficient reports Cox, doing their job ‘very quickly’ before departing. The fifth photo is of the cottage where the grenade was discovered, viewed from Woodstock Ave. the day after the incident. Nathan Cox/Special To The Tillsonburg News
