Ethan Mudford of Tillsonburg is doing his part to help fight cancer.

The nine-year old student agreed to cut his hair for the Canadian Cancer Society Friday afternoon at First Choice Haircutters in Tillsonburg.

“I lost my grandma and my uncle to cancer, so I decided to do this,” said Mudford. “It’s an important thing to do.”

This was the first time Ethan had undertaken a project like this to help the Canadian Cancer Society, noted proud family members watching the haircut from the sidelines.

It took Mudford almost two years to grow his hair to a certain length, before having nine inches of it cut off.

“My mom always says people love natural red hair,” Mudford said with a smile, referring to his contribution.

The hair will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society to make wigs for children and adults.
