Scared Hitless moves into three-way tie for second in Tillsonburg Ladies Slo-Pitch

Wow, the month of May is almost over which means the first month of the slo-pitch season has also come to a close.

Eichenberg’s in the Ladies A Division and Hit N Run in Men’s C are the only unbeaten teams thus far.

A shout out to the scorekeepers that braved last week’s inclement weather. Some came with umbrellas, some in costumes like S.J… LOL.

Men’s A

Maple View Variety D-Backs continued their winning ways mercying IC Waters in five. The D-Backs are definitely the best in ‘A’ for handing in gamesheets on time! The only other game to report last week was Vector Blue Jays’ 10-run decision over Haines Roofing.

Vector Blue Jays 21, Haines Roofing 11

Vector: Adam Thomson 4-4, Eric Vanwynsberghe 5-6 HR, Trevor Oakes HR

Haines: Phil Durham 3-4, Shawn Finch 2-3

Eric Vanwynsberghe was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle and Trevor Oakes was a double shy.

Maple View Variety D-Backs 19, IC Waters 4

Maple View: Randy Miller 3-3, Brad Wencel 3-3, Ryan Miller HR, Mike Wencel HR

IC Waters: Mike Shewan 2-3 HR, Tim Miners 2-3

Brad Wencel drove in four against a short-handed IC Waters squad.

Men’s B

DeGroote-Hill shut out Hollister KIA Dekambas over the first three en route to an easy win. Hollister KIA had won two straight over Big Bass Brawlers and Dirty Mitts.

Domino’s Hounds had a come from behind walkoff victory over Corey’s Restaurant.

Hollister KIA 16, Big Bass Brawlers 7

Hollister KIA: Kyle Hollister 3-4, Kyle Smith 3-4

Big Brass: Kevin Karnes 1-2, Jason Nesbitt 1-2, Joe Stone HR

Hollister KIA put this one away with a seven-run sixth.

Hollister KIA: Chad Barclay 4-4, Steve Demaiter 3-3, Kyle Hollister 2 HRs, Travis Horvath HR

Dirty Mitts: Sean Miller 2-2, Colin MacDonald 2-2

Kyle Hollister had a pair of three-run homers for the winners.

Domino’s Hounds 15, Corey’s Restaurant 14

Domino’s: Shane Bouck 2-2, Mark McKibbon 3-3

Corey’s: Steve Wesseling 5-5, Don Schinkel 4-5

Shane Bouck had the walkoff RBI for Domino’s.

DeGroote-Hill 21, Hollister KIA 4

DeGroote-Hill: Jim Long 4-4, Chris Parker 3-3, Doug Falkins 2 HRs, Trevor Fleet HR

Hollister KIA: Kyle Smith 2-3, Cody Furlong 2-3

Trevor Fleet and Doug Falkins hit back to back homers in DeGroote’s seven-run fifth.

Men’s C

Hit N Run remained atop the division averaging 21 runs over their two wins.

Destroyers reeled off a pair of wins to move up in the standings. Straight Up won by eight over John Beere.

John Beere: Kevin Stuyt 3-3, Shawn Matthews 1-2

Brett Parsons led the winners with three three-run homers.

Hit N Run 20, Delhi Dodgers 7

Hit N Run: Martin Epp 4-4 HR, John Dyck 3-3

Delhi: Jordan Pope 2-3, Rob Atkins 2-3

Martin Epp drove in six for Hit N Run.

Destroyers 16, Stickmen 14

Destroyers: Eric MacFadden 3-3, Troy Temple 3-4, Kevin Alward HR

Stickmen: Ed Bouw 4-5, Dylan Graydon 4-5 HR

Destroyers took over the lead for good after a seven-run sixth.

John Beere: Tim Rapai 4-5, Andrew Barnim 4-5

Hit N Run went yard four times against John Beere.

Destroyers came from behind with a three-run seventh.

Ladies A

A slow week in reporting as there are only two games to report on. Neither game went the full seven innings. Great Lakes Physio –Corey’s Restaurant had little trouble with Eastwood Steelerz, and Eastwood mercied a nine-player ServiceMaster squad.

Eastwood: Alana Haskett 3-3, Deanna Littler 2-4

Shannon Ewing had a pair of long triples for the winners.

Eastwood Steelerz 23, ServiceMaster 4

Eastwood: Jordan Coderre 5-5, Sara Sparzynski 5-5

ServiceMaster: Tracy VanParys 2-3, Kerry Jensen 3-3

Jordan Coderre had three doubles for Eastwood.

Ladies B

Scared Hitless collected three easy victories last week to move into a three-way tie for second with Challengers and Hericanes.

Hollister KIA won the battle for first with Focus putting the game away with a four-run seventh. KIA also mercied Scared Hitless but were upset easily by Hericanes.

Challengers squeaked out an 11-10 win over Hericanes.

Hericanes: Kristin Duncan 4-4, Heather Haley 3-4

Susie Klassen homered and drove in four for Challengers.

Scared Hitless: Renee Lachapelle 2-2, Sandy Salverda 2-3

Danielle Swart and Kristen Mawhinney scored four runs for KIA.

Cardio Plus: Amber Way 3-3, Carly Matos 2-3

Lee Ann Witton, Daniella Boughner, Sandy Salverda and Mandi Vanderhaeghe scored two runs for Scared Hitless.

Hericanes: Allison DeBlaire homered in consecutive at-bats for the winners.

Melissa Johnston crossed three times for KIA.
