Monsignor O’Neil Catholic School is gearing up for the last month of this school year! We have class trips happening in June (the Grade 5 classes had their year-end trip in May, to Waterfest) and some sports events that have taken place already and others that will be happening soon.

Grade 6 classes are involved in EQAO testing all week this week. We’re making sure the hallways are quiet so students can concentrate on their tests. Good luck, Grade 6’s!

Our intermediate soccer team competed at St. Mary’s High School last week. After all their hard work and practicing, they won consolation champs! Way to go Knights!

Mrs. Thompson’s Grade 7A class participated in the ‘Inside Ride’ for cancer at St. Mary’s High School in Woodstock recently. Two teams represented Monsignor O’Neil Catholic School, and they cycled, collectively, over 42 kilometres! Students rode in honour of Hailey Ash, a Grade 8 pupil at our school, who is a cancer survivor.

Grade 8 students are looking forward to their year-end trip. This year, they’ll be going to Camp Queen Elizabeth for almost a week, where they’ll be able to do lots of fun activities, like capture the flag, rocky mountain baseball, Frisbee golf, gaga ball, scavenger hunts, initiative games, drama games, saunas, campfires, stargazing, watermelon football, water polo, beach party, earthwalk, snorkeling, swimming, and hikes.

We hope they have a great trip and make many fond memories. Soon they will be graduating and moving on to high school. Our Grade 8 graduation is on June 21 at St. Mary’s Church.

The Dominos Pizza card fundraiser is now over, and thanks to everyone who made it a great success! Many students won great prizes. We’re looking forward to running this project again next year.
