Ladies golf at The Bridges

Tuesday, May 7 was the opening day of league play for the 9 and 18 Hole Ladies at The Bridges and a spectacular day for golf.
We were eager to get out there and show off our stuff. The course was in great shape, the greens were fast – so there could be no excuses for some of those shots we cannot explain.
There were 14 9-hole ladies and 11 18-hole ladies participating .
The 9-hole ladies played for three hidden holes – 3, 5 and 8. Mary Wiltshire was the winner with a combined total of 14, Liz Lessif and Marion McLean tied for 2nd place with 15 points, and Wilma Jeffery finished 3rd with 16.
The 18-hole ladies played for total putts. The winners in A flight were Devona Allin with 21 putts and Phyl Lawrence with 33 putts. In B flight, Stella Black and Taye Jackson tied with 34 putts, and Mandy Mawhiney had 35 putts. Mandy Mawhiney and Carol Livingston each had Birdies on Hole #2.
Even if the drives are not as long as we would like or the putts as accurate, it all pales with a nice relaxing lunch and genial conversation following the game. Some might even say it’s the best part of the day!
Last week we extended an invitation to all female golfers to try out the Tuesday Ladies 9 & 18-hole leagues simply by paying the league registration fee of $20 + $2 per week + green fees. Further to that invitation we are inviting the Wednesday lady golfers to join the Tuesday 9 and 18-hole ladies for their monthly tournaments. They are fun tournaments, each with a different format, followed by one of our delicious luncheons and prizes. A good time is had by all. An established handicap is required.
The Wednesday ladies gofers are invited to play with the 9-hole ladies. It is not necessary to join the Tuesday Ladies League or to have an established handicap.
The Wednesday lady golfers are also invited to play with the 18-hole ladies. It is not necessary to join the Tuesday Ladies League. An established handicap is required.
Signup sheets for all the above events are posted on the bulletin board in the ladies locker room.
Attention: Tuesday Ladies League 9 & 18 hole golfers - Why not play with the Wednesday night ladies for fun? No need to join the league unless you plan to attend their closing dinner. If a member, just come out and play. If a non-member, green fees apply. 9-holes including a cart is $20 +HST. 18-holes including a cart is $40 +HST. The signup book is at the desk in the Pro Shop.
