VandenBussche Irrigation wins Business Improvement Award

Article content

A photograph of an aerial view of the VandenBussche Irrigation and Equipment property — the way it looked when Marc VandenBussche started as an 18-year-old in the family business — acts as a reminder of where he started from.

The picture hangs above his desk in his office. Most of the buildings have been replaced by bigger and better structures, the most recent being the 9,000 square foot showroom completed last May, where VandenBussche's office is located.

The company expansions, which totaled $1.5 million, were contributing factors of VandenBussche Irrigation receiving this year's Business Improvement Award in the large business category from the Delhi and District Chamber of Commerce.

“I'm appreciative,” said VandenBussche. “It has been quite the year.”

The award is one of many accolades VandenBussche Irrigation and its general manager/vice-president have received this past year.

In January, VandenBussche was named Norfolk County's entrepreneur of the year during the municipality's annual economic development symposium.

VandenBussche also received a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal in November for his contribution to local agricultural as well as his community involvement.

Chamber president John Stanczyk said the company “was a fairly obvious choice” due to the earlier awards and the fact VandenBussche Irrigation serves both the local and national market and has broken into the European market,

VandenBussche praised his mother and four sisters, noting, “They are in charge of encouragement and prayer.”

The awards will be handed out at the Delhi and District Chamber of Commerce's Annual General Meeting on May 1 at the Delhi Polish Alliance of Canada's hall.
