Bottle drive to aid Delhi family after tragic loss

Community members are rallying together to help support the Wheeler family after a tragic loss.

Tanner Danis-Wheeler, 3, died suddenly on March 25.

“He was full of life,” said Rose Kowalchuk of Windham Centre.

Kowalchuk's children went to school with Tanner's parents, Jeff and Lisa.

Kowalchuk and her husband Gary's home at 1045 Windham Centre Road is one of two drop off locations for a can and bottle drive. Empty cans and bottles can also be dropped off at 661 Gibralter Street in Delhi.

Money from the returns will be given to the Wheeler family to help offset the cost of the funeral and other expenses.

“Anything anybody can do, any kind of donations...would be great,” said Kowalchuk.

A trust fund has also been set up at TD Canada Trust in Delhi to help support the Wheeler family.

Tanner was a brother to Lucas and Ryder, grandson of Carol and Arend Gerritsen, Danny and Denise Danis, Ivan and Linda Myerscough and Deb Robertson.

A funeral service was held in Delhi on March 30.

Many in attendance wore purple, the colour of epilepsy awareness, said Kowalchuk.
