Ladies, get ready to be entertained.

The Tillsonburg Kinsmen Club is presenting their annual ‘Femme Fest’ on Saturday, April 27, 2013 in the Lions Auditorium, at the Tillsonburg Community Centre.

“It’s an annual fundraiser where members of the club get together and we form skits to music - they’re comedy skits,” said Rob Haines, president of the Tillsonburg Kinsmen Club. “We’ll mimic music videos and put our own little twist on it and this year we’re doing more movie scenes as well – we have a couple of scenes from Cocktail and a couple from Magic Mike.”

In addition, members of the club will be performing several pop music skits such as the Harlem Shake Gangnam Style, a Stompin Tom tribute, a firefighter song, a Duck Dynasty tribute and other specialty events.

“It’s all members of the Kinsmen Club and we rehearse for about two months right up to the show,” said Haines. “Everything’s in sequence, it’s a very organized show. I’m running the event with co-chairs David Martin and Lance Mackenzie,” he added.

Haines said that the ‘Femme Fest’ event is an evening of fun for the women of Tillsonburg, providing drinks, hors d’ouevres and plenty of entertainment.

“It’s solely for the ladies. We sell tables to individuals – tables of eight. There’s appetizers and hors d’ouevres that are served at the table throughout the evening and then there’s a little bit of a buffet at the end of the night,” he said.

Also adding to the enjoyment of the evening will be the waiters, who will serve the ladies and treat them like royalty.

“At the start of the night we have an auctioneer that comes in and each table can purchase a waiter for the evening,” said Haines. “For example, the waiter will serve your drinks for you and they’ll give you a massage.”

The fun-filled evening has been put on by the Tillsonburg Kinsmen Club for more than ten years and is one of their biggest annual fundraisers.

“We raise money for community projects around the town and also donate to Cystic Fibrosis,” he said. “Our goal every year is to raise around $5,000 – those numbers are on tickets sales and alcohol sales. This year we’re trying to sell about 250 tickets.

“We do a lot of things but this is our big event for the year.”

Femme Fest takes place Saturday, April 27, doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets for the event are now on sale and can be purchased at Haines Roofing on Simcoe Street, Best Oxford Upholstery on Vance Street or Danbrook Automotive on North Street.
