Playoff Week
Tuesday, March 26
A Semifinal
Signshop 5, Cocreo 1
Our 1st semifinal playoff game featured an upset of sorts as 6th place Signshop knocked off our top league champs Cocreo. Signshop has been on a good run recently and looked eager to play and that they did finishing the half tied at one apiece. It was all Signshop in the 2nd blanking Cocreo 4 - 0.
Leading the way was Cody Kraushaar with four with a Stephen DeGroote single. Cocreo got their single fro Matt Davis.
Pettman’s Auctioneering 6, Verne’s Carpet 5
Our 2nd playoff game was another upset as 2nd place Verne’s fell to the up and coming Auction squad in a very tight matchup. Pettman’s opened up with a 4-2 edge and then held on to advance to the finals.
Leading the charge was Gerrit Pelleboer with a hat trick, followed by a Kris Foreman double and Mike Beal single. Verne’s got three from Nolan Ambrus and singles by Thomas Cross and Mike Oliveira.
Wednesday, March 27
B Division - 3rd place & Finals
Corey’s Restaurant 4, Tillson Pizza 2
Our 3rd place game was another dandy as Corey’s played for pride edging out the always tough Pizza boys. It was deadlocked at two apiece at the half before Corey’s totally shut the door in the 2nd.
Corey’s Jason Martins got two with singles from Aiden Boyle and goalie Mike Mesquita. Scott Dunbar got two for Tillson team.
Computer Station 7, Ontario Laser 4
Our 2nd B division game was the final and it looked like an early upset as Laser took the 1st half lead 2-1. But our league champs wouldn’t be denied and kept on the pressure offensive outlasting and outscoring their rivals by a 6-2 margin.
It was a balanced attack with Josh McKnight, Csanad Kocsis and Nick Simon all banging home two apiece and with a Justin Young single. Laser got a pair from Ryan VanLeeuwen and singles by Cedric Tomico and goalie Erwin Loewen.
Thursday, March 28
A Divsion 3rd place & Finals.
Verne’s Carpet 9, Cocreo 8
In this short-handed matchup, it was an offensive barrage as both teams just blasted away for pride and when the dust settled it was still a one goal edge. It was 4-3 at the half for Cocreo with Verne’s having the last say in the 2nd.
Verne’s gunner Ryan Fitch scored six and Nolan Ambrus got the hat trick. Cocreo got four from goalie Darryl Price, followed closely by a Andy Metselaar hat trick and Gerry Mynders single.
Signshop 5, Pettman’s Auctioneering 4 (OT - Golden Goal)
In our A Final, it was another barnburner of a game and a very even matchup. The teams deadlocked at two apiece at the half and then again equalized again at 4-4 at the end of regulation time. It needed overtime and a golden goal from Signshop’ s Cody Kraushaar to settle the score. A perfect pass from Stephan DeGroote was the difference just our minutes into OT.
Signshop got singles from Jill Yarmie, Terry Pittao and goalie Jason Beard with Cody getting the pair. Auction got singles from Mike Beal, Kris Foreman and Gerrit Pelleboer. The other was an own goal.
