Shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013 the Oxford County OPP was called to a report of a suspected impaired driver on Plank Line in Southwest Oxford Township.
Police observed the vehicle on Plank Line and proceeded to travel onto the 401 Highway. Police initiated a traffic stop, however the vehicle continued on and exited the highway at Foldens Line. A short time later the vehicle pulled over and two passengers exited the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle drove off again, disobeying police who had lights and sirens activated.
Police pursued the vehicle for a short distance before it went out of sight. A short distance later, police recovered the vehicle abandoned at the intersection of Plank Line and Curry Road. OPP canine and Emergency Response Team (ERT) members were called in to search the area for the suspected driver. The alleged driver was located a short distance away and arrested.
Thirty-one-year-old David Pangborn of London is charged with the following:
Fail to stop for police – Section 216 of the Criminal Code of Canada
Flight from police – Section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Dangerous Operation-Motor Vehicle – Section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Fail to Remain – Section 200(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Drive while disqualified – Section 259(4)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Impaired operation of a motor vehicle – Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Exceed 80 milligrams blood alcohol – Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Driving while under suspension – Section 53(1) Of the Highway Traffic Act
Protect your valuables
The Norfolk OPP is reminding the public to protect property and valuables against would-be thieves after a vehicle entry was reported at a 3rd Concession, South Walsingham, Norfolk County, address.
Unknown suspects entered a parked vehicle in the early morning hours on Sunday, March 17. Once inside, unknowns removed a wallet containing personal identification.
Here are some tips to prevent you from becoming a victim:
Always secure your vehicle doors when parking your vehicle, even if you are only going to be a few minutes.
Remove valuables from your vehicle. If you can’t, then keep them from plain view.
Park in well lighted areas with high traffic.
Clean out your garage and park your vehicle in it – locking your vehicle and the garage door.
