Opportunity to explore China

Come and experience the sights, sounds and wonders of China.

The Tillsonburg District Chamber of Commerce is inviting local residents and businesses to learn about a trip of a lifetime.

An orientation meeting for the trip to China will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Carriage Hall, 25 Brock Street West in Tillsonburg.

“The Tillsonburg District Chamber of Commerce is facilitating their second Trip to China, which is scheduled to go September 14 -26, 2013,” said Tillsonburg District Chamber of Commerce CEO Suzanne Renken.

“Our orientation meeting is being held for anyone in the community and surrounding area, along with their friends and family – it doesn’t just have to be chamber members. It’s open to the public to come out and hear about what the trip to China entails.”

Last year in 2012, the Tillsonburg District Chamber of Commerce organized, in cooperation with Citslinc International, their first trip to Asia – an event that was a great success.

“We have videos now from a successful first trip that we had last September in 2012 and this is an opportunity to come and learn what it would be like to travel to China,” added Renken.

The orientation meeting will cover costs of the trip, planned itineraries, schedules, popular tourist sites and several cities to be visited.

The cost for the trip is $2, 499 Canadian per person and includes airfare, $450 passenger tax and fuel surcharge, accommodations in 4 -5 star hotels, three meals a day (a deluxe breakfast, plus lunch and dinner), and daily bus tours to various locations.

Those participating in the trip to China will see and experience the cities of Bejing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou.

It will also provide if requested, a unique opportunity for local businesses.

“If a business wants to have information about doing business in China, then there is an opportunity for them to have meetings when they are there,” said Renken. “We need to know that ahead of time so that we can set that up.”

Renken said the trip offers a once in a lifetime opportunity for Tillsonburg residents and businesses and noted several reasons why people would enjoy such an adventure in the Orient.

“I think the reason to go would be to experience first of all, a different culture and the Asian countries in the Far East,” she said. “And also to see the great wonders of the world – there’s the Great Wall of China, there’s Tiananmen Square, so there’s lots of history and a whole different way of life,” Renken concluded.
