The U14 championship game was a nail biter.

Down two players heading into the second period, the Twisters fell behind 3-2. But Tillsonburg never gave up and continued playing hard.

Becht’s second of the game knotted the score at 3-3, and the teams went into overtime.

At 11:50 of the extra period, Leslie Nichols took a great pass from Lauren Cowan and scored the game-winning goal.

“We take pride in our girls, we are strong from our goaltending, defence and offence players, each and every player made a difference in this tournament,” said the coaches. “It was a good effort from everyone.

“We have a good solid team and the coaching staff is very proud of each and everyone of the girls. Congrats on winning your third tournament of this season.”

The U14 Twisters’ next tournament is the first weekend in March in Niagara Falls and then it’s off to Regionals, March 22-24, in Guelph.
