Driver charged in mall crash

Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has concluded its investigation into the collision at the intersection of Broadway Street and Washington Grand Avenue in Tillsonburg that occurred just after 11:15 a.m. Thursday (January 3) morning.
According to Oxford OPP Constable Stacey Culbert, a black Toyota Avalon entered Broadway, westbound from Washington Grand at a controlled intersection, colliding with a southbound tractor/trailer combination.
The Avalon continued onward to a secondary collision with an unattended parked red Dodge Charger. Those two vehicles continued up onto the sidewalk, eventually colliding with the rear portion of the Town Centre Mall’s Northern Reflections outlet.
The male driver of the Toyota, 88-year-old Robert Simpson of Tillsonburg, has been charged with Fail to Yield to Through Traffic, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
