The agenda for the regularly-scheduled Thursday, December 20, Municipality of Bayham open council meeting includes item 12-C: A By-Law to provide for a By-Election (Deputy Mayor Vacancy). The meeting is scheduled to being at 7 p.m. inside council chambers in Straffordville.
A framework established during a special council meeting last Thursday evening suggested an April 1, 2013 date for such a by-election. The matter may be open for discussion given that date is also Easter Monday. There is also potential for further debate upon the issue, which until passed as a by-law, is not binding.
To date, four people have reportedly expressed interest in the vacant deputy mayor position, a list including (in alphabetical order of last names): Lynn Acre, Bob Lauzon, Earl Shea and Rainey Weisler.
